Ford India has invested US $ 500 million in India to double its production capacity to 2,00,000 units per annum that shows Ford's desperation to make it big just like Maruti, Hyundai and Tata Motors. As such, with the launch of Ford Figo in the Indian auto market, the company plans to make its position stronger in the interminably growing hatchback segment.Ford Figo is not only a small car in India but is also a ray of hope for Ford Motors as it has placed the company on a track that was much needed from the auto firm’s perspective. The company has equipped Ford Figo with everything that a small car owner can wish for. However, there are some limitations since it's a compact car and everything can’t possibly fit in it. What the Figo does offer is the much advanced and desirable array of features that include Lane Change Indicators, Rapid deceleration warning, speed sensing volume control, smart programmable remote key, distance to empty, 6 speed intermittent wiper and intelligent central locking besides Bluetooth connectivity. Ford Figo is available in both petrol and diesel models with four variants each. The petrol version of Ford Figo is powered by the all new 1.2L petrol engine which produces 71Ps of maximum power and 102 Nm of peak torque while the diesel version of Ford Figo comes loaded with the company’s popular 1.4L, Duratorq diesel engine that currently powers Ford Ikon and Ford Fiesta and has gained a lot of popularity for delivering high engine performance with good fuel economy. This Duratorq diesel engine produces 69PS of maximum power and 160 Nm of top torque. Ford Figo comes in four variants in both petrol and diesel engine. The variants are Lxi, Exi, Zxi and Titanium. The company has taken the price of the base variant of Hyundai i10 as its benchmark for the petrol variants of Ford Figo that is priced at Rs 3.5 to Rs 3.6 lacs. While the diesel variants of Ford Figo are priced in the range of Rs 4.5 to Rs 5.45 lacs. These exceptional price ranges for such a large and stylish premium hatchback model has given it a good start.
Ford Figo shares its key elements of Ford’s kinetic design with its other stable mates like Ford Mondeo, Ford Focus and the recently launched European Ford Fiesta. Ford Figo is designed and engineered by Ford Australia. The slim upper grille and large lower grille, body colored bumpers with fog lamps create a magical view that pleases the eyes. The petrol Figo gives a standard mileage of around 12.5 kmpl mileage in the city while on the highway it offers mileage around 15.5kmpl. Ford Figo is a good option in the B category hatchbacks. It competes with some of the top models like Maruti Swift, Chevrolet Beat, Nissan Micra and Toyota Etios Liva. Ford Figo acceleration is pretty good as the hatchback zooms from 0-100 kmph in 15.5 seconds. Ford Figo is powered by a 1.2L, 1196cc engine that’s essentially a scaled down version of the engines that power the Fiesta and the Fusion. The engine type comprises of four cylinder, DOHC and SEFI. The top speed of Ford Figo petrol is 170 kmph.On the other hand, diesel powered Figo is powered by the 1.4L Duratorq, four cylinders, SOHC, Common Rail diesel engine. This is the very same diesel engine that also serves the Ford Fiesta and has been renowned for its performance and efficiency and now with the power to weight ratio advantage on the Figo, its performance and efficiency ratings have improved. The engines are mated to a five speed manual transmission. This Figo accelerates in 16 seconds from nil to 100 kmph. Ford Figo diesel can run as fast as 175 kmph.

Among everything else, the competition to woo customers, starts from the exterior look of the car and no company leaves any stone unturned to create a look that is unmatched by others. Ford Figo about which we are discussing here, is one of the best creations Ford designers have come up with so far. A completely new look with a unique front, side and rear design is the USP of Ford Figo. These elements become the deciding factors that grab most out of the small car segment in India. So, here we present you the exterior appearance of the hatchback with the help of words along with respective pictures.
The front of the Ford Figo looks balanced as all the features are added in a specific way. The headlight cluster is big and bold with bright lights. The distinctive human-eye shaped headlights come with halogen headlamps and turn indicators which are clearly visible during any part of the day. The turn indicators are placed above the headlight. The car features a fog lamp slot at both sides at the front. These fog lamps can be incorporated in the car at an extra cost. Upper grille is kept slim to give it a totally different look while Ford logo is placed centrally at the grille. On the other hand, the lower grille of Ford Figo is large and aggressive. The fog lamps are fitted in a round shape in 'U' casing, separating it from the lower grille. As a result, the size of the front bumper is reduced largely. Curves and flow lines are clearly visible and look attractive.
Side view mirrors and door handle bars are painted the same as the body color and enhance the sporty look of the Ford Figo. The front and the rear bumper is body colored. Turn indicators in rectangular shape are also placed below the side view mirrors. It means that the ORVM has not provided with LED turn signals. A sleek antenna can be seen at the middle of the front side of roof. Figo also has Anti Drip Wiping at the front windshield.
The rear of Ford Figo is also well-decorated that turns your head. To give a wide opening to the rear hatch, taillights are made in vertical shape. The vertical stacked taillight cluster comprised of brake light, turn indicator and reverse light. The taillights stretched to the rear end of the roof but started from the middle of the rear hatch. A LED brake light display is also added at the rear end of the roof. Rear window wiper, rear window washer and rear window defogger are also finds their place nicely. Rear spoiler, very small sized, is also there in Ford Figo which is located at the rear end of the roof. The trunk of the Ford Figo can be opened by remote.

Ford Figo is a compact car which provides a seating capacity for five passengers including the driver. The front seat row is spacious and comfortable. The driver seat is an adjustable one which is a rare feature in compact cars in India. The power steering wheel in Ford Figo has three spokes. Cup-holder at front seat is provided. The audio system is advanced and can be operated by a remote control. Ford Figo, is blessed with a good air conditioning and heating system to provide comfort and luxury at the same time. Even the base variant is fitted with an air conditioner and heater. The front row has a glove compartment and electrically adjustable outside mirrors. Head rests are fitted to the front seats. The seating row at the rear provides ample space for three passengers. This seat row is also foldable. Ford Figo is a small car which falls in the B Plus segment. Generally, these cars do not have ample space for passengers. However, front seat have sufficient legroom, headroom and shoulder room. This fact holds true for Ford Figo as well. However the rear seat row can become a little congested especially for taller passengers. There is no armrest for the middle passenger.
